Safer than using matches or lighters, the BL-02 Piezo Electric igniter works in cold or hot weather, having been tested to subfreezing temperatures. The lighter is not harmful to body (if shocked), being similar to a static electricity shock. Piezo electric igniter The generates 10,000 volts and is good for 100,000 strikes. It lights all types of ignitable gases including MAPP, Propane, Butane, Oxyacetylene, etc. A 15-inch wire keeps fingers a safe distance from ignition and no batteries or fuel ever required. Purchased this item on Sept 27th. Worked about every five clicks at first. Next time it was ten clicks .... then 25 clicks! I tried to return item but it was past the 30 day window and hassle and cost of shipping back to seller not worth it. BE WARNED! If you buy this igniter check it out every day!I DO NOT recommend this item.
UPDATE 18 Nov. - Decided to "look into" this igniter before throwing it away. Only one removable screw - disassembled, not much there. Spring and top assembly.
Put it back together ... NOW IT WORKS! EVERY time! So problem is in assembly, not design or materials. Upped rating to three stars.
Would have given it five stars if it worked like this, out of the box - as it SHOULD have!

We are living in our travel trailer and the stove does not have an automatic ignition. We are completely satisfied with this product. It lights the burners and has a long reach so even the back burners are easy to reach.

I have to say that the con to this devices is the spit itself... come on why would make a spit in two pieces attached by a nut that bind the two pieces together ... to me it seems it is the weakest point in the whole device. I broke mine while I was tightening it... luckily I ran out to buy a cheap rotisserie for the 1 piece spit it contained... I wasn't sure about buying this rotisserie after reading other negative reviews and wish I hadn't. It didn't even make it to the grill. The rod comes in 2 parts that have to be screwed in, one into the other, and the threaded end snapped off before it was even tightened down all the way. This is clearly not well-made and I would guess if it had made it into use, something else would have failed later on.

This item is great!! It installed right on the pre drilled holes on my BBQ and I was off and running! Only drawback is that you have to remove the brackets in order to put your grill back on. I cooked a chicken and it was beautiful!
